Link-easy Aerospace’s SBN series separation nut is a quite simple and effective hold down and release mechanism actuated by Nitinol shape memory alloy (SMA) wires. The separation nut offers both high load capability (1~20KN) and fast actuation time (~50ms).

The Compact SMA-based Ball-holding Separation Nut (SBN-S Series) is an improved model of the SBN series separation nut. Its working principle is the same as that of the SBN series. However, the product envelope size and weight are reduced (about 23% in weight and 25% in height) dramatically thanks to the improvement of SMA wires training technology and optimization of product structure. The compact separation nut is very suitable for payload locking in narrow spaces, such as small solar wings, small laser communication terminals, etc.

SMA-based Fructure Release Mechanism (SFR Series) is an innovative non-explosive release mechanism, which is designed for the launch lock of a wide variety of deployable payloads including solar wings, antennae, and various appendages. The operation principle is very simple: a Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) cylinder elongates when heated up to fracture a notched bolt, thereby achieving the separation of two or more components. The SMA-based actuator comprises a cylinder of Nitinol (Nickel-Titanium) SMA and integrated redundant heaters. The reset of the SMA actuator can be achieved by compression the SMA cylinder to its original length using a special hydraulic reset tool.

The Link-Easy Aerospace’s Satellite Separation Mechanism (SSM series) is a four-point microsatellite launch adapter, suitable for a wide range of satellite configurations and weights (50~150kg). Four separation nuts (Model: SBN-8KN-S-BM, SBN-20KN-S-BM) are used in the separation mechanism to achieve the lock and release function. The preload of single separation nut is 8~15kN, which ensures high rigidity and reliable lock; Four separation springs are used to push the satellite away synchronous.

SMA-based Pin Puller (SPPL Series) consists of a spring-loaded shaft that is restrained by a latch mechanism and triggered by Nitinol shape memory alloy (SMA) wires. The Pin Puller offers both high load capability (180~700N) and fast actuation time (~50ms).

Waterproof SMA Actuators (WP Series) are new types of actuators developed by our company for payloads locking and release underwater or in extremely humid environments. Waterproof sealing structures are designed to isolate water from the core actuation part of the actuator, which enables the actuator to function well underwater. The core actuation parts are simply the SBN series separation nut or SPPL series pin puller. Therefore, the WP series actuators can realize underwater unlocking, pushing/pulling functions, and is very suitable for emergency detachment of payloads on carriers such as aviation and ships.
